The Influence of Temperature and Humidity on Printing Ink

When the air is very humid in the south wind days, many printers complain that using the same printing ink and the same process, the yield of finished products is really low during printing, the printing ink is easy to gel, become sticky, gamble on the screen, transfer printing can not be oiled, the ink layer is matt, and the adhesion is poor.

Long term printing masters understand that printing ink has strict requirements for materials, processes, and environments, and even slight differences can have a serious impact on printing quality. Special attention should be paid when processing some high-precision products. The above problems are mainly caused by the temperature and humidity of the work environment. Here are some improvement suggestions based on on-site handling experience:

1、 Temperature

1. When the temperature of the operation room is too low, especially when the temperature is below zero in winter in the north, the fluidity of printing ink becomes poor, and even gel phenomenon appears. Solution: Use hot water to scald or stir thoroughly to solve the problem.

2. When the temperature is too high, the printing ink will dry quickly, there will be a gambling net in printing, and transfer printing will be less prone to oiling. Solution: Replace the thinner that dries relatively slowly to solve the problem.

2、 Humidity

1. When the printing ink humidity is too high, it will absorb moisture during printing operation, resulting in problems such as printing ink tackiness, gel, matt, poor adhesion, etc. Solution: Use air conditioning or a dehumidifier to solve this problem.

2. Low humidity of printing ink can easily cause electrostatic dust pollution. Solution: Use anti-static agents or dust rollers to solve the problem.

Of course, the above methods can only temporarily solve a single problem. If printing products with high precision requirements, it is still recommended to use a dust-free workshop and control temperature and humidity. It is recommended to control the temperature in the homework room between 20-30 ℃ and the humidity between 55-70%.
